Meet the Training Team
Allan Evans, Training Director
Allan Evans, Training Director at TES, began his railway career in 1999, rising from Trackworker to Senior PICOP. Driven by a passion for mentoring, Allan transitioned into training to inspire and empower others. Always eager to grow, he’s currently expanding his expertise in commercial and finance.
Beyond his professional life, Allan enjoys playing golf, fishing in calm waters, watching football games, and quality moments with his family surrounded by the great outdoors.
Derek White, Head of Training
Derek White began his railway career in 1999 as a Trackworker on a P-Way maintenance gang. Over the years, he progressed through various roles, ultimately becoming Head of Training at TES 2000.
Driven by a passion for helping others grow, Derek transitioned into training and assessment after finding the most fulfilment in supporting the development of others. He is now focused on establishing TES’s training department as a leader in the industry.
Outside of work, Derek is a keen golfer, currently playing off a handicap of 32.
Tracy Dexter, Sentinel Coordinator
Tracy has spent most of her career in Human Resources. From January 2017 to October 2019, she served as Head of HR at TES, where she developed her expertise in competency management within the rail industry. After a brief career break, she returned to support the Training Department.
Tracy oversees Competency Management for all TES primary sponsored staff, which supports the scheduling of Training and Assessment events and the booking of internal and external delegates.
She ensures the testraining@tes2000.co.uk inbox is constantly monitored, making it the fastest and most efficient way to handle training and assessment enquiries. The Training Calendar shows courses scheduled for the next three months, but Tracy is always happy to provide dates and availability via email.
Dave Seaton, Training Manager
Dave began his railway career in 2013, focusing on compliance before advancing his skills to achieve SPICOP certification. Passionate about helping others, he transitioned to a Trainer/Assessor role, dedicated to sharing knowledge and fostering a safer, more skilled industry. Dave has excelled in his training career, moving up the ranks at his previous organisation before joining the TES Training team in 2025 as Training Manager.
Outside of work, Dave is an avid scuba diver and thrill-seeker—whether he's flying a plane or jumping out of one, he's always up for an adventure.
Will Evans, Trainer/Assessor
Will Evans began his railway career at 18 on P-Way, quickly progressing to COSS and then into technical and safety-critical roles, including PC, ES, PICOP, and SPICOP. His experience in possession management and mentoring new staff sparked a passion for training and development.
Now a dedicated trainer and assessor at TES, Will is working towards SPICOP trainer accreditation and aims to contribute to rule book development. He values the exchange of knowledge and believes learning is a two-way process.
Will is multilingual, speaking Spanish and some Italian, adding a unique dimension to his personable and engaging training style.
George Stott, Trainer/Assessor
George began his career in the rail infrastructure sector in 2012, starting as an Earthing Assistant. Over time, he progressed through several key safety-critical roles, including Controller of Site Safety (COSS) and Authorised Person (AP). In 2014, George joined TES as an AP, and within two years, he was promoted to Nominated Person within the Isolations team.
George became a trainer/assessor driven by a passion for developing others. His strong interpersonal skills and extensive industry experience made him a natural fit for the Training team. While working operationally, George found inspiration in supporting newcomers to the rail industry. Seeing individuals eager to learn motivated him to help grow their skillsets, aiming to raise standards of professionalism and electrical safety across the sector. His approach is shaped by the role models who influenced his own career.
Outside of work, George is a committed (if self-proclaimed average!) rugby player, currently playing in the front row for Mersea Island RFC. He enjoys socialising with friends and spending quality time with his girlfriend, often out walking their dog, Arlo.
Rae Robinson, Trainer/Assessor
Rae Robinson began his railway career in 1994 as a trackman while managing a pub. By 2000, he transitioned fully into the rail industry, progressing to roles such as ES and PICOP. He became an assessor in 2002 and started delivering Track Induction and PTS training the following year.
Over the years, Rae has worked with several major rail companies, including DMQA, Bridgeway, and MALLA Rail, before re-joining TES in 2013. Now a full-time trainer, he specialises in PTS and track safety training, with an interest in expanding into ZKL and Hand Trolley instruction.
Outside of work, Rae is a lifelong Sheffield Wednesday supporter, rock music enthusiast, and concertgoer. His diverse background includes roles as a coal miner, electrician, gym instructor, and nightclub doorman.
