Driving Sustainable Value

A TES Commitment

We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint and building a greener railway, aligning fully with Network Rail’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

Our consistent approach is simple: we do things right.

Sustainable & Safe Fleet

Our fleet is transitioning to be greener and safer. We introduced 30 new hybrid vehicles in 2023, cutting fuel costs by 15% and significantly reducing incidents. Our Fleet Manager, Mick Kiely, was even named Road Risk Manager of the Year! Plus, our driver rewards program sees 88% of drivers achieve over 95% in safe, fuel-efficient driving.

Reducing Emissions

Our Carbon Reduction Plan (October 2024) targets net-zero emissions by 2050, with a 50% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030. We've already reduced our vehicle fleet by ~50% and use X-Eco LED hybrid lighting towers that cut fuel consumption by 73%.

Environmental Responsibility

Building Climate Resilience

Every project includes tailored Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) to identify and tackle climate risks, like proactive flood controls. Our teams are consistently upskilled on climate resilience.

Protecting Nature

Through Environmental and Social Risk Assessments (ESRAs), we evaluate ecological impacts, scheduling work outside sensitive seasons and supervising vegetation clearance to protect biodiversity.

Driving a Circular Economy

We're aiming to eliminate 50% of non-recyclable waste by 2026 through better segregation and recycling. Reclaimed materials like ballast and rail are reused or recycled, and our procurement prioritizes low-carbon, recycled, and ethically sourced materials.
