Training Insights
Although all of you who are Primary Sponsored by TES have the added advantage of an in-house competency management team and Training Department here are a few top tips to make sure you have all of the facts needed to make sure you remain fully trained and compliant to work on the infrastructure:
To be able to attend your first PTS Recert course you must be a white hat, no blue hats.
From 31st March 2025 Sentinel Scheme Rules changed to allow only your Primary Sponsor to pay for any Sentinel based Training and Assessment events. Any competencies that you do hold, and therefore are to be paid for by TES 2000, must be relevant to the duties that you carry out for us.
When you have your Post Mentoring Assessment for any new competency gained, you must have been signed off as Competent by your Mentor confirming that you are ready for this Assessment. If this has not been done when you receive notification of your Assessment raise this immediately with your Department Manager.
Did you know that if you need assistance with reading during the following courses, it can be provided to you:
PTS Initial / Recert, Lookout Initial / Recert, TIC
If this is something that you need either tell your Department Manager, a member of the People and Culture Team, or email testraining@tes2000.co.uk and this can be arranged for you.
Did you also know that you are not allowed to attend most other Initial Training Courses when you are still in Learning Support? Therefore, please check your Sentinel profile to see if you still have your Green Square next to your PTS AC/DCCR competencies and if you feel ready, contact your Department Manager who can arrange for the Post Mentoring Assessment to take place.
The MySentinel App is a simple way for you to be able to record Log Book entries, as opposed to having to carry and have your “blue book” signed off. However, you must make sure if and when using this that you record the Competency that you have undertaken and then these electronic entries can be used as evidence when attending your Recert courses.
You will all be familiar with the E-Learning Module that you had to complete when undertaking your PTS Initial Training. From April this year however, anyone attending any of the following INITIAL courses now need to complete the new Level B DCCR E-Learning Module:
Negative Short Circuit Devices
Level B Strapping
Level B Switching
If you are attending one of these courses, you will be enrolled on the module by the Training team and log-in details will be sent to you so that you can complete this.
Finally, OWN YOUR OWN COMPETENCIES. Regularly check your Expiry/Valid Until Dates for Assessments and Recertification Training and if you haven’t heard anything from your Line Manager or the Training Department reach out to check this is in hand. We try our best to ensure that nothing is missed but are always happy to know that you as individuals are keeping on top of these as well.
