Today, November 12th, is MHFA England®Association Celebration Day, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate the compassion, commitment, and crucial role our MHFAiders play at TES 2000 Ltd!

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) are the heart of our workplace wellbeing strategy. They are trained to listen, reduce stigma, and provide that vital first line of non-judgmental support to colleagues in distress.

Their impact is significant. As our MHFAiders—including Bianca Molloy BSc(H) MA MCIPD MHFA, Suzanne Catchpool MCIPD MHFA, Karen Sparrow, Lee, and Seth Harrison — state, "We've Got Your Back!"

It takes courage and dedication to take on this role, and we are grateful for their commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone at TES.

I became a Mental Health First Aider because I recognised that I was in a position where people often felt able to be vulnerable and trusted me with their experiences. I wanted to learn more about how to support those who needed help, in a way that was informed, compassionate, and respectful. I completely honour the trust people place in me to listen without judgment, and I’m committed to doing everything I can not to break that trust or give them any reason to hesitate to speak up again.

I became a mental health first aider after stopping someone from committing suicide, I found them mid act and cut the cord from around their neck. I didn't understand why they would want to take their own life, so I decided to become a mental health first aider to allow me to better understand the thought process and be in a position to help someone else from getting to that stage again.

I became a mental health first aider due to a personal experience emphasizing the need for mental health support. During a difficult time, I faced multiple significant events: losing my father, my son's kidney diagnosis, and starting a new job after 11 years. While I could manage these individually, their combined impact on my wellbeing was profound. I sought help from a Mental Health First Aider, whose support greatly affected me. Inspired by this, I decided to help others by providing similar support and fostering an environment where discussing mental health feels safe and help is accessible.

What we do?

The TES Mental Health and Wellbeing Group is here to ensure that no one has to face their challenges alone. We've all had dark days and needed someone to talk to, which is why we're committed to building a culture of empathy and support right here in the workplace. We believe that by fostering a greater mutual understanding of each other’s struggles, we can all enjoy coming to work more and tackle both the day-to-day stresses and the big issues together.

You deserve to take time for yourself and for your colleagues to notice when you're having a bad day.
