Sentinel Scheme Rules Update October 2025
Please be advised that the Sentinel Scheme Rules have been updated, and the changes are now reflected in the latest version of our internal procedure document: HRD_P_007_07 Sentinel Scheme Management Procedure.
Key Update: Training Payment Responsibilities
TES 2000 Ltd, as the Primary Sponsor, will continue to fund training, assessment, and recertification for the competencies it uses.
Individuals may now self-fund training for their own development outside of the Company’s competence requirements.
Sub-Sponsors may also fund training for competencies not used by the Primary Sponsor.
Important Clarifications
Under no circumstances can an individual self-fund a PTS course.
The Primary Sponsor retains final authority to approve or reject any training, assessment, or recertification, regardless of who is funding it.
All training requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with consideration given to the individual’s current competence level and development needs.
We are currently working through the process for facilitating payments, and further guidance will follow once systems are in place.
Competency Management Oversight
We’ve identified risks where individuals may attempt to book advanced training (e.g., COSS) without having the necessary experience or support. To mitigate this:
The Sponsor is responsible for making informed decisions about training approvals, ensuring alignment with the Sentinel competence framework and our internal assurance processes.
A reminder will be issued to all individuals that they cannot hold a competence without completing the required learning support and assessments.
This is to ensure that individuals do not bypass essential development steps, which could compromise safety and compliance.
Please direct any training-related queries to TESTraining@tes2000.co.uk for guidance.
