New Entrants
Unqualified Track Staff Opportunities (Part Time)
Due to an increase in work throughout the Anglia region we are currently offering opportunities for unqualified entrants to undertake the necessary training required to work in the railway environment
.
NATURE OF THE WORK
Newly qualified Track workers will be involved in the maintenance, repair and renewal of railway tracks throughout the region. This is a physically demanding role and applicants will need to be prepared to follow the instructions of the supervisors on site to get tasks done to a high standard, whilst maintaining safety at all times. Tasks may include shoveling, using small tools, heavy lifting etc. This is an outdoor role so applicants must be prepared to work in all weathers.
HOURS OF WORK
Due to the nature of the industry, the majority of our work is carried out at nights, weekends and public/bank holidays when there are less train movements. To service weekend peaks we need additional staff to undertake weekend shifts which may be:
- Friday night
- Saturday day
- Saturday night
- Sunday day or
- Sunday night
Although this is predominantly weekend work there may be opportunities to undertake additional shifts during the week, depending on work levels and demand.
LOCATION
Our work is carried out on railway infrastructure throughout the Anglia region. Transport is provided from our office in Colchester or a designated pick up point to each worksite. It is essential that candidates are able to get to the pick up point as required. Non-drivers relying on public transport will need to consider what will happen if they are rostered to work night shifts when there is no public transport service running. Reliability is essential.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS
Before candidates can be offered a place on the Track Induction Course they will need to successfully complete a Network Rail approved Medical examination and a Drugs and Alcohol screening. All candidates will also be required to provide satisfactory references from previous or current employers.
